This policy explains how cancellations, reschedules, no-shows and refunds work for survey bookings made through Book My Survey ("BMS"). Because surveyors are independent professionals who reserve time, travel and resources for your survey, the exact fees, windows and any surveyor-specific terms are shown to you at the time of booking. Please review them before you confirm.
Cancelling a booking
- You can request a cancellation from your bookings dashboard. The amount refunded depends on how far in advance you cancel relative to the scheduled survey.
- Cancellations made well in advance are generally eligible for a fuller refund. Cancellation fees may apply within a set number of hours of the scheduled survey, as shown at booking, to compensate the surveyor for reserved time and committed travel.
- Once a survey has commenced, fees and costs already incurred are typically non-refundable.
Rescheduling
- You can request to reschedule a confirmed survey, subject to the surveyor's availability. Reschedules requested with reasonable notice are usually accommodated without a fee.
- Late reschedules may be treated similarly to a late cancellation, and any applicable fee will be shown before you confirm the change.
Refund eligibility and timelines
- Where a refund is due, it is issued to your original payment method through our payment processor.
- Refunds are typically initiated promptly once approved; the time for funds to appear depends on your bank or card provider and is outside our control.
- Any non-refundable platform or processing charges, if applicable, are disclosed at booking.
No-shows and access issues
- Customer no-show or no access — if the surveyor attends as scheduled but the vessel, site or required access is unavailable, the survey may be treated as a late cancellation and fees may apply.
- Surveyor no-show — if a surveyor fails to attend a confirmed survey without valid reason or reasonable notice, you are entitled to reschedule with the same or another surveyor, or to a refund of amounts paid for the undelivered survey.
- Events outside anyone's control — weather, port closures, safety stand-downs and similar events may require rescheduling; we work with both parties to find a fair outcome.
Disputes
If you and the surveyor disagree about a cancellation, refund or the completion of a survey, contact us and we will help mediate in good faith. We may review the booking record, communications and evidence from both sides to reach a fair resolution.
